Ascot racecourse and the Tote forge a new five-year partnership to enhance pool betting collectively
The agreement between Ascot and the UK Tote Group began on January 1. This agreement ensures that all pool bets placed on racing from Ascot will continue to support liquidity in the UK pool, which has been operated by the UK Tote Group since October 2019. Betting on racing from Ascot by British and Irish customers through the Tote website has significantly increased since 2020, while overseas turnover has also seen a 22% increase over the same period thanks to the World Pool model. The World Pool model allows Tote operators from 28 countries to commingle pools, with the Hong Kong Jockey Club hosting it. Ascot staged the first World Pool card at the 2019 royal meeting, and it has since expanded to 17 days in 2023. The courses involved in the World Pool concept have benefited from increased media rights income, while punters have enjoyed higher liquidity and more robust dividends. Ascot’s CEO, Alastair Warwick, expressed delight in having a new agreement with the Tote, emphasizing the potential for further development of the World Pool to benefit racing fans and the sport as a whole.
UK Tote Group CEO Alex Frost also expressed immense pride in partnering with Ascot.
