Brooks Koepka and Graeme McDowell, Major champions, set sights on Cheltenham Festival following Givemefive’s win at Warwick
The four-year-old made a successful stable debut for Harry Derham at Market Rasen last month. The son of Holy Roman Emperor followed up with a victory in the opening 2m juvenile hurdle. Paul O’Brien guided Givemefive, who runs under the banner of Smash Racing, to an 18-length victory over the favorite Orchestra. Smash Racing shares the same name as the LIV Golf team, which is captained by Koepka.
The ownership of Givemefive by the high-profile sporting stars came about after Derham beat McDowell in a nearest-the-pin challenge during a Pro-Am. Derham shared that Graeme, Brooks, and Daniel are good guys and will be watching in Florida.
Although the handicap option of the Boodles Juvenile Hurdle is a possibility, the more likely festival target for Givemefive is the Fred Winter. Derham stated that they were hoping for a run in the Fred Winter so they could go to the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton. However, Derham mentioned that he can’t believe he’s saying these words, but he will be entering Givemefive in the Triumph Hurdle.
In terms of other race results, Nico de Boinville scored his first victory since breaking his collarbone last month, riding Either Or to win the first division of the race for Henderson. The Twiston-Davies team completed a double with Ballycamus in the 2m4f novice handicap chase.
Finally, it is mentioned that Racing Post has the best offers all in one place.
