Can the undefeated English Rose continue Godolphin’s dominance in the Cape Verdi?

Will unbeaten English Rose extend Godolphin’s domination of the Cape Verdi? Seven of the last 11 winners of the Cape Verdi have gone on to win the Godolphin. Godolphin has had a strong presence in the Cape Verdi, winning 10 of the last 13 runnings, with four of the last five wins going to Charlie Appleby. English Rose’s form at Kempton has been promising, with three of the horses she beat going on to win since, although at a lower level. She will need to continue improving in order to be competitive. Ismail Mohammed’s filly may benefit from her previous outing and has Adrie de Vries as her jockey, who performs well at this track. She has shown improvement in her previous runs and has pleased her trainers during training sessions. Shining Jewel may appreciate a longer distance after this race, with the Balanchine in mind for her. However, she is ready to begin her campaign. Silver Lady won impressively on her debut and is the only one of the three horses to have run at black type level. Despite a disappointing performance in her last run due to the conditions, her training has been encouraging and she should be a strong contender. English Rose, being relatively untested, could be the frontrunner in the race.

Hugo Palmer, trainer of Stenton Glider, notes that the Cape Verdi has been the target race for his filly since she disappointed at Haydock in August. She has had a break since then and has grown and strengthened, becoming a much stronger horse. She has adapted well to Dubai and training has been exceptional. Palmer hopes that she will perform well in the race.
