Chaotic first fence collision eliminates leading contenders as JPR One cruises to Lightning victory
Tizzard’s horse, JPR One, secured a half-length victory in a race that was described as a “comfortable watch” by Tizzard but caused anxiety for owner John Romans and jockey Brendan Powell. Matata, the left-jumping runner-up, caused a fall in the first fence and led to the favorite, Djelo, being taken out of the race. However, JPR One took the lead and maintained a commanding position throughout the race, eventually winning by half a length. Romans expressed his nerves due to the high quality and significance of the horse. He mentioned that JPR One has a good following, and there is potential for the horse to compete in the Arkle. Although Tizzard’s horse stumbled at the final fence in a previous race, the trainer remains confident and is not worried about the competition from Marine Nationale in the upcoming Arkle race. The trainer believes that JPR One performed exceptionally well in this current race and has always been highly regarded.
