Exciting News: L’Homme Presse is making a comeback! Check out the confirmed runners and riders for Sunday’s racing at Racing Post.
The return of a horse named Royale Pagaille for the Winter Million meeting is uncertain due to a frozen track. The horse, trained by Venetia Williams, won the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase in 2022 but has not raced since suffering an injury during the King George VI Chase at Kempton later that year. Royale Pagaille is one of six horses declared for the £165,000 contest, and a successful return could lead to a bid for the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
Another horse to watch in the Winter Million meeting is Allaho, trained by Willie Mullins. Allaho won the Grade 2 in 2022 but recently finished third in the King George VI Chase at Kempton. The horse will need to bounce back from this defeat. Last year’s Ryanair Chase winner, who has not raced since the Champion Chase in November, is also part of the field. The remaining horse in the competition is French Dynamite, trained by Mouse Morris.
In other news, Gary Moore is preparing to showcase Aidan O’Brien’s Irish Derby fourth in hurdle racing next week. The Retraining of Racehorses organization has unveiled a three-year strategy to address the needs of the aftercare sector. There has been a slight improvement in average attendance at British tracks, which is encouraging for racecourse chiefs. However, some controversy has arisen due to comments made by the Arc boss regarding owners’ right to decide which country to race in. Olly Murphy has paid tribute to former boss Gordon Elliott, stating that there is more to Elliott than meets the eye.
