Guineas heroine Mawj makes a sensational return in Group 1 Jebel Hatta – Racing Post
Saeed bin Suroor’s filly has had significant success, winning a 1m1f Grade 1 race in the US and almost clinching the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita. However, concerns about her stable’s current form exist, as they have not performed well in the UAE season so far, except for one runner-up finish in December. This raises doubts about the field’s strength. The filly Mawj, with a favorable sex allowance, stands out in terms of figures, despite the stable’s recent form.
Ottoman Fleet is known for consistent performances over this trip, while Highland Avenue has shown competitiveness at the Group level. However, the latter is facing a significant step up in this race. Charlie Appleby is expected to put up a good fight, as he usually does in the turf races at Meydan.
Regarding Mawj, trainer Saeed bin Suroor expresses confidence in her readiness for the race, despite her absence since the Breeders’ Cup. He notes that she has performed well over a mile and appears to be in good shape currently. This race is seen as an ideal start to her season.
