‘We have high hopes for this exceptional horse in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham’
The heroics of the chaser dominated headlines in April, but it was the National success that crowned a standout spring for Lucinda Russell’s yard. In March, the yard achieved a career-best monthly tally and discovered several promising novice talents for the new campaign.
Corach Rambler achieved back-to-back victories in the Ultima, while Apple Away made her mark in the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle, a race previously won by Ahoy Senor at odds of 66-1 in 2021. The spring also saw Douglas Talking come close to scoring at the Punchestown festival, and Giovinco emerged as a rising star with a decisive Listed success at Perth. Giovinco has already made a name for himself over fences this season.
Looking ahead, there are high hopes for a Grade 1 performance from one horse, as his form was validated in the Greatwood. Another promising prospect is a big horse whose last race showed promising signs. The Becher is the next target, and there is even speculation that he could be one for the National. A brilliant jumper is being considered for the Classic Chase, as she has shown the ability to keep galloping indefinitely. Lastly, there is a horse with plenty of room in its handicap mark, and it is believed that it could be one to follow closely this season.
