Fakenham disappointed as track loses its New Year’s Day fixture in 2024

The fixture is owned by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA). Fifteen years ago, the track was requested to host it in order to provide a more balanced distribution of meetings on January 1. Since then, the track has consistently applied for and successfully staged the fixture. Over the years, it has become an essential part of the track’s schedule, drawing one of the largest crowds of the year.

This year, it also marked the track’s first £100,000 raceday.
