Inthepocket might return to training and make a surprise appearance at Cheltenham Festival, says Racing Post.
Last year’s winner of the Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree missed the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown due to a setback, but has been back in training for a few weeks. Inthepocket, who finished second on his chasing debut, is being trained cautiously, and his participation in the upcoming festival is uncertain. De Bromhead mentioned that they are taking it one step at a time and no final decisions have been made regarding the seven-year-old’s participation in the festival next month.
Inthepocket is not currently entered at Cheltenham, so a decision to target either the Arkle or the Turners Novices’ Chase would require supplementation. Inthepocket had previously been supplemented for the Leopardstown race before his setback, and it remains to be seen if a similar decision will be made in the future.
