Lucinda Russell reaches 50 wins as Patrick Wadge leads conditional jockey standings at Racing Post
The trainer’s winners at the recent event made quite an impression. Netywell’s victory in the 2m½f handicap chase was particularly notable, building on a previous win at Haydock. Jockey Patrick Wadge, aided by a 3lb claiming allowance, remained composed as Netywell made a strong late move to secure a comfortable six-length win.
Fiveafterfour, also ridden by Wadge, displayed a patient ride to clinch the victory in another race, bringing the jockey back to the top of the conditional jockeys’ championship with a double win. Meanwhile, Camp Belan secured a treble for the trainer under the tough handling of Derek Fox. During the races, the trailblazing Fia Fuinidh provided an early challenge, but Netywell’s patient approach paid off as the horse made a strong finish.
Similarly, Fiveafterfour’s patient ride led to a successful surge to overtake the long-time leader Spice Diva. Camp Belan, under Derek Fox, displayed resilience to claim victory in the 3m handicap chase. Notably, the mishap involving Camp Belan handed the race to the persistent challenger President Scottie, who secured an easy win over hurdles at the third attempt.
Despite the mishap during the race, the Fox-ridden seven-year-old emerged unscathed, allowing President Scottie to register an effortless win.
