David Maxwell dreams of Aintree return after finishing sixth in Grand National at the Racing Post.

The National Hunt jockey Maxwell had recently purchased his ride in the National from Robcour. He had a perfect run on the ten-year-old horse, finishing sixth behind the runaway winner I Am Maximus. Maxwell was thrilled with his performance, praising the horse’s travel and jumping abilities.

He admitted to a slight mishap on the second circuit but was impressed overall with the race. Maxwell, who had previously competed in the Foxhunters’ Chase, found the National to be a different experience. He appreciated the pace and space maintained by the jockeys and commended the lack of recklessness he had seen in other races.

He also applauded the changes made by the BHA to improve safety and field size in the event. Looking ahead, Maxwell is focused on reaching the 75-winner mark and is already planning to return to the National next year. He humorously suggested that his sixth-place finish should count as a win.

He also mentioned his future plans for the upcoming season, expressing his enthusiasm for participating in races like the Becher, Thyestes, and Grand National.
