Karl Burke Issues Positive Update on 2,000 Guineas Contender Night Raider
Trainer Karl Burke has high hopes for Night Raider after the horse’s impressive performance on the Polytrack gallop in Middleham. Burke praised the horse’s potential and ability, saying he hadn’t seen a horse work better in the 23 years he’s been at Middleham. Night Raider’s high cruising speed and ability to quicken off it have left a strong impression on the trainer and jockey Danny Tudhope, who Burke believes loves the horse. Night Raider is yet to race on turf, but Burke is optimistic about the horse’s chances, having made a “small” investment when he was 40-1 for the 2,000 Guineas.
Burke is confident about Night Raider’s prospects, noting that there’s no pressure on the horse and expressing hope to outperform competitors with bigger reputations. He also expressed confidence in Night Raider’s form, stating that the horse deserves to be the favorite. Fallen Angel, another horse in Burke’s stable, has been making progress following a racecourse gallop at Newmarket’s Craven meeting. Burke mentioned the horse’s preference for soft and heavy ground and highlighted her readiness for upcoming races.
However, he hinted at the possibility of waiting for the French Guineas. The going at Newmarket was described as good to soft, with an unsettled forecast for the remainder of the week.
