Nicky Richards Pays Tribute to David Yates, Owner of Monet’s Garden
The meeting was scheduled to start at 1:52 but has been delayed to 2:22, with the races following the previously announced times. Clerk of the course Richard Hammill explained that unexpected rain, totaling up to 6.5mm, has impacted the track.
This has resulted in the loss of the long-distance race, as the back of the lake area is now softer with standing water, making it unsuitable for races over a mile and a half. While the rest of the course is in good condition, it is described as soft to heavy in places, and the racing will likely be quite testing.
More rain is expected until lunchtime, possibly adding another 3-4mm, which could potentially lead to a change in the track’s condition before the races begin.
