Oisin Orr guides Pretty Crystal to victory over hot favorite Dance Sequence in thrilling Nell Gwyn.
The betting odds for Dance Sequence changed to 6-1 following her defeat in the 1,000 Guineas race. The filly who beat her, trained by Richard Fahey, is not entered in the first fillies’ Classic. Pretty Crystal, with betting odds of 18-1, won the race, having previously been placed in black-type company.
The Sheikh Rashid Dalmook-owned filly won after a neck-and-neck duel with the runner-up, and third-placed Kathmandu also put in a commendable performance. Oisin Orr, who rode the second winner of the Craven meeting, expressed his surprise at the victory, as they were initially supposed to go to Beverley. The trainer mentioned that the filly, still learning, was not tuned up for the race and would likely perform even better in a longer distance race in two and a half weeks.
Jockey Sean Levey, who rode the third-placed horse Kathmandu, mentioned that he made an error in following the wrong horse during the race.
