Paul Nicholls perplexed at lack of opportunities for Bryony Frost despite her popularity among the public, surpassing some trainers.
Nicholls recently spoke at a media conference organized by Great British Racing, where he discussed Bryony Frost’s recent successes. Frost’s victory at Perth marked her fourth win in her last 12 rides. She had also won the Grade 3 Red Rum Handicap Chase at Aintree and the Mares’ Challenger Series Final Hurdle at Cheltenham this month.
Nicholls acknowledged Frost’s riding abilities and noted that she is well-liked by the public, despite not receiving as many opportunities as some trainers. He expressed his admiration for Frost’s determination in making the most of the opportunities she does get, acknowledging that she is still riding at the top of her game. Frost has had 26 winners from 181 rides this season, which is notably lower than her previous season’s performance.
Eight of her wins this season have been from 46 rides for Nicholls, with Harry Cobden leading the jump jockeys’ championship as Nicholls’s stable jockey. Nicholls mentioned that they would not be busy between May and October, and he encouraged Frost to enjoy herself in France during this period. He noted that there were rumors of her staying in France after the Sandown event, but he had not received confirmation from Frost.
