Rosallion, top 2,000 Guineas contender, set for Newmarket debut next month.
The son of Blue Point, Rosallion, is currently priced at 6-1 for the first Classic of the British season. This comes after he won the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp by a length in his final start at two. After an initial victory at Newbury in June, Rosallion went on to win the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot and finished third in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in September. Trainer Hannon made the decision not to give Rosallion a prep run due to the heavy rainfall, opting to have him head straight to the 2000 Guineas.
This was a difficult decision, Hannon noted, but given the challenging ground conditions, a previous run would have been too taxing for Rosallion to recover from in just two weeks. Hannon expressed confidence in Rosallion’s fitness and readiness for the upcoming race. The current favorite in the 2000 Guineas market is City Of Troy at 4-6, having won all three of his starts last season, including a victory in the Dewhurst Stakes by three and a half lengths. There are 49 horses still in contention for the Classic, with Hannon also entering Dewhurst fifth Haatem and Son, who finished fifth in the Royal Lodge Stakes in September.
