Jasour back on form for Clive Cox with Group 3 victory at Racing Post.
The three-year-old made a significant impact last summer by winning the July Stakes at Newmarket. However, afterwards, he experienced a loss in confidence and underperformed in two subsequent starts. Trainer Cox worked hard over the winter to guide the horse back to form, resulting in a victory in the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes. This win has set the stage for the horse to compete in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot next month.
Cox expressed that the horse had become frightened as a juvenile, but through their efforts and careful planning, the horse has regained confidence and a better understanding of racing. Joint-trainer Ed Crisford echoed this sentiment, describing the win as the perfect start for the horse’s season. The filly also achieved success, defeating Rock Hunter in a challenging race. Trainer Dominic Ffrench Davis stated that the filly is aimed at the Albany at Royal Ascot and emphasized her potential to excel over longer distances in the future.
Overall, the trainers and owners are pleased with the recent victories and are looking ahead to further races, including the possibility of the Diomed for the horse and the Albany for the filly at Royal Ascot.
