Pleasing Jamie Snowden ahead of hurdling debut: Smart Flat horse and Supreme entry Reach For The Moon
Jamie Snowden was initially trained in Newmarket by John and Thady Gosden. He finished second in the Chesham at Royal Ascot in 2021 and went on to win the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown. However, he has not won since and did not participate in the 2,000 Guineas or Derby.
Despite this, he filled second in the Hampton Court Stakes at the 2022 Royal Meeting. There was some focus on his rider Frankie Dettori and his relationship with Gosden snr after that race, with the senior Gosden criticizing some of Dettori’s efforts that week. Reach For The Moon, a son of Sea The Stars, will carry the brown silks of the Queen and Sir Chips Keswick, who have been long-time supporters of Snowden’s Lambourn yard.
Snowden stated that Reach For The Moon is in good shape and has adapted well to jumping. The five-year-old is entered in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at next month’s Cheltenham Festival. Snowden mentioned that they will start gently and see how Reach For The Moon performs.
He also stated that a lot of Flat horses improve after their first run. Snowden expressed his readiness to start with Reach For The Moon and his cautious optimism about the horse’s potential in the upcoming race.
