James Owen and My Gift To You deliver another flawless performance following recent controversy, leaving Hillsin trailing behind in first run.
The six-year-old was making his first start for new trainer Alan Jones, after previously racing for Chris Honour at Worcester in July. Currently, there is an ongoing investigation by the BHA, and the jockey who rode him that day, Dylan Kitts, is still suspended from riding. In his latest race, the horse named Hillsin finished last out of six finishers. My Gift To You, who joined James Owen last summer, won the race by two and three-quarter lengths. James Owen mentioned that Hillsin caught his eye at the sales, and despite interest from other trainers, he chose to train him because of his appearance and potential. Owen believes that the horse is improving and getting stronger, attributing the poor performance in the summer to rushing him and not allowing enough time for development.
In another race, jockey Harry Cobden continued his recent success with a 32% strike-rate in the past two weeks. The 12-year-old horse he rode bounced back from a previous disappointment at Bangor and won by four and a quarter lengths.
