PJ McDonald, determined to pave the way for career resurgence, reflects on mentally challenging previous year

McDonald has had a long and successful partnership with Dance, a horse trainer. However, Dance’s horses were banned from running by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) for a period of time after his business was shut down by the Financial Conduct Authority. The BHA ban was reintroduced in September, and shortly after that, James Horton, Dance’s private trainer, resigned. McDonald plans to maintain his relationship with Horton, but he is approaching the upcoming year as a freelance rider.

In other news, there are several articles featuring other jockeys and horse racing-related topics. Ben Curtis is thriving while riding in New Orleans during the winter season. Former Amo rider Kevin Stott is enjoying his freelance role. Oisin Murphy is putting jump racing on hold as he heads west after winning the Indian 1,000 Guineas. A part-owner of Corach Rambler has set up a new syndicate. And a new agent is grateful for Bryony Frost’s trust as he makes another promising signing.
