Lucinda Russell praises prize-money after Corrigeen Rock wins feature at the Racing Post
The seven-year-old horse won the £75,000 event at Musselburgh, finishing two lengths clear of Thunder Rock. Trainer Russell also enjoyed success in the £100,000 Edinburgh National with another horse, Inis Oirr. The 2m4½f contest featured an eight-strong field, and Russell was pleased with the prize-money on offer, highlighting the quality of racing at Musselburgh.
She praised the toughness and bravery of the winning horse and its jockey, Derek Fox, and expressed delight at their performance. Despite the victory, Russell ruled out the possibility of participating in big festivals in Britain due to the horse’s inability to go left-handed. However, she mentioned the potential of heading to Ireland for races, indicating that the decision will be discussed.
She also expressed disappointment at not being able to go to Cheltenham or Aintree due to the horse’s preference for right-handed tracks, despite acknowledging that Aintree would have suited him.
