Entries for Arkle, Turners, and Brown Advisory novice chases: who are the standout contenders?

Arkle, Turners, and Brown Advisory novice chases have attracted star names this year. However, the number of entries for these races has decreased compared to previous years. Last season’s Martin Pipe winner had a flawless performance on his chase debut at Warwick before facing a setback. The Arkle had the lowest number of entries ever, with only 24 runners. This is a significant drop from a ten-year high of 89 entries in 2016. The Turners saw a slight increase in entries compared to last year, while the Brown Advisory had four more entries than the previous year.

Overall, there were a total of 130 runners across the four races, which is eight less than last year and 69 less than in 2019. This represents a 34.6% decrease in entries over the past five years.

Flooring Porter, who has performed well in the past, also has the option of participating in the Stayers’ Hurdle for the third time. Sandor Clegane, who was the runner-up in the 3m Grade 2 event, is entered in the Brown Advisory instead of the Stayers’ Hurdle by trainer Paul Nolan.
