Flooring Porter targeting National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham Festival – an ideal race for him, say connections

The longest race at Cheltenham is the novice chase in which Flooring Porter is entered. He is currently 8-1 for the 3m6f event and as short as 6-1 with some firms. Trainer Gavin Cromwell believes that this race is well-suited for Flooring Porter and that he has a great chance of winning. Cromwell stated that Flooring Porter stays very well and has the potential to perform well in the National Hunt Chase.

Flooring Porter has had a successful career so far, winning back-to-back Stayers’ Hurdles in 2021 and 2022. He made his chasing debut at Cheltenham in October at the age of eight and jumped efficiently, defeating Broadway Boy convincingly. However, he has faced defeat in his subsequent races at Punchestown and Leopardstown in Graded events. Cromwell expressed some disappointment in Flooring Porter’s performance when he placed third in the Grade 1 last month. He believes that the track and ground conditions may not have been ideal for Flooring Porter’s strengths. Nonetheless, his form figures at Cheltenham are impressive, with a record of 1141.

Cromwell also mentioned that the Grand Annual is a potential option for Flooring Porter, considering his current mark. However, he emphasized that Flooring Porter performs well when fresh, so it is unlikely that he will run another race before Cheltenham.

Another contender for the Grand Annual is My Mate Mozzie, who was last seen finishing second to Found A Fifty in the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown. My Mate Mozzie is the general 8-1 favorite for the Grand Annual and has odds of 25-1 for the Arkle.

In conclusion, Flooring Porter and My Mate Mozzie are both strong contenders in their respective races at Cheltenham. Their performances and odds suggest that they have a good chance of achieving success in the upcoming event.
