“Nubough Ends Long Drought with First Win for Mark Pattinson Since June” – Racing Post

The eight-year-old horse had not secured a victory since winning over the same course and distance on New Year’s Eve in 2021. This ended a 22-race drought for the horse, who denied the 9-4 favorite, Sassy Redhead. The win also marked the first success for Epsom-based handler Pattinson since June.

The horse had been drawn in unfavorable starting positions and finished as the runner-up multiple times. Despite facing some criticism, the trainer expressed confidence in the horse’s ability, stating, “He doesn’t enjoy running around here and it was vital for him to get a decent draw. He has that stamina and was always going to run them down in the straight.”

Jockey William Carson secured his fourth victory of 2024 with this win, bringing an end to Pattinson’s spell without a win. Carson praised the hard work and dedication of the trainer, saying, “He rides them out and takes them racing – he does it all – and works incredibly hard at it.”
