Racing Post: Gowran Park Introduces New Weighing Room in Preparation for Flagship Event

At a special ceremony ahead of the Goffs Thyestes Chase fixture, champion trainer Willie Mullins and his mother Maureen cut the ribbon at the local track. The Thyestes meeting, taking place on Thursday next week, will mark the first time the facility is being used. The preparations for this event were made with a focus on the comfort of the jockeys, including their seating area and storage for their clothes. The aim was to create a modern, warm, and comfortable environment for them.

The track has been designed with glass from floor to ceiling, allowing racegoers to see what happens behind the scenes. This includes being able to watch the jockeys getting weighed in and out, as well as observing their entrance into the stewards’ room. The intention behind this design is to connect the public more closely with the happenings of the race day.

Efforts are being made to ensure that the jockeys and horses are the stars of the day. Despite some complaints about the 35-minute gaps between races, the organizers are confident that there will be enough entertainment from the racing itself to fill those gaps. The goal is to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for spectators.

In addition to the track preparations, Racing Post has gathered the best offers for the event, making it convenient for interested individuals to access all the necessary information in one place.
