Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen tied in title race after Cobden’s win aboard Lario.

Lario, with odds of 9-2, faced a gentle hurdling test at Sedgefield in December. Six of the nine hurdles were bypassed due to low sun, causing Lario to struggle on his debut. However, with superior speed, he managed to catch up and secure victory over fellow Flat recruit HMS President.

Anthony Charlton-trained Lario looked out of contention jumping the last hurdle but ultimately surged ahead up the hill to claim victory. The jockey expressed his plans to go to Salisbury and get some beef cattle for the farm since he had no rides the following day. The 5-1 chance left the front-running pair Hill Of Tara and Good News to lead for most of the race, eventually surging to the front on the home turn and securing a decisive win.

Freddie Gordon expressed satisfaction with the current performance of the horses, stating, “It’s all coming together now and the horses are running better.” Another victory came from the 15-8 chance, who made a comeback rounding the home turn to deny the favorite, Prince Quali, with a win by a head.
