Jamie Osborne prepares for his first Qatar runner with Emaraaty Ana at Racing Post
The Lambourn trainer is hopeful of making a breakthrough in Qatar as they have never previously sent out a runner there. The trainer is excited about the opportunity that the eight-year-old has at the HH Amir Sword Festival.
The Barratt Racing-owned gelding, a six-time winner for Kevin Ryan, has spent the winter in the Middle East and recently finished fifth in a Group 2 at Meydan last month, including winning the Sprint Cup at Haydock in 2021. The trainer’s daughter, Saffie, will be riding Emaraaty Ana after her commitments in Dubai.
The trainer believes it was a logical decision to bring the horse to the six-furlong contest due to the prize money on offer. The trainer expressed enthusiasm about competing in the region, stating that it is something they strive to do with high-quality horses, despite never having previously had a runner in Qatar.
The trainer was in high spirits observing Emaraaty Ana alongside friend Jim Bryce on the turf track under work-rider Georgia King. The trainer is optimistic that the experience of racing in the region will increase the chances of their runner.
The horse has acclimatized to the temperature and the time in Dubai, and has been training and traveling well. Overall, the trainer is looking forward to the upcoming race and hopes that the horse performs well in both Qatar and Dubai.
