Teeshan, well-hyped, set to enter Champion Bumper after impressive debut win – Racing Post

Teeshan recently joined Nicholls with a strong reputation, having been privately acquired following an impressive 41-length victory in a point-to-point at Loughanmore in October. This performance was praised as “brilliant” by Derek O’Connor, who highlighted Teeshan as one of his three horses to watch from the four-year-old crop in an Irish point-to-point weekly supplement.

The son of Westerner justified his odds-on favouritism by winning by seven lengths at Exeter, placing him as one of the frontrunners in the Champion Bumper market at 8-1 with Betfair Sportsbook. In terms of betting odds, only four horses are priced shorter than Teeshan with the firm, and they are all trained in Ireland.

Willie Mullins is responsible for the 5-1 favourite Jasmin De Vaux and the 7-1 shot Maughreen, while Gordon Elliott trains the 11-2 second favourite Jalon D’Oudairies and the 7-1 chance Romeo Coolio. Notably, Ireland has emerged victorious in the last seven runnings of the race.

Nicholls commented on Teeshan’s recent performance, stating that he won nicely and acknowledging the uncertainty regarding the quality of the race. He also highlighted the impressive victories of his other bumpers this season with Quebecois and Joyau Allen.

Nicholls further mentioned Teeshan’s reputation from his Irish point-to-point win and the challenges he faced during his transition to Nicholls’ stable. Lastly, Nicholls expressed his intention to ensure that Teeshan is in the right condition, with the deadline for entries for the race approaching.
