Jet-Setting George Baker Aims for Unique International Double with Seven Runners in the Desert and Two in St Moritz

Baker had missed out on Cumulonimbus at the sales, but was later approached by Ramiro Restrepo, a Kentucky Derby-winning owner representing a new syndicate of 100 members. Initially, he was skeptical, thinking Restrepo was trying to sell him Bitcoin.

However, when Restrepo mentioned his involvement in the ownership group of Mage and his Kentucky Derby win, Baker was intrigued and went on to google the information. The syndicate comprises trainers, bloodstock agents, and farm owners, with 80 members planning to attend the race in Switzerland after three weekends of racing at St Moritz.

Baker expressed the challenge of managing logistics, as the syndicate has seven runners in Bahrain on Friday and two in St Moritz. He believed that their journey would be unique and mentioned a cocktail party for the Americans and other owners on the lake.

Additionally, the ownership groups behind Baker’s runners have decided to double their chances by leasing a 25 per cent stake in each other’s runners for the afternoon. Baker also praised Cemhaan, referring to the horse as a standout performer for their syndicate.
