Willsburg’s Victory Provides Trainer Oliver Signy with a Much-Needed Boost After a Quiet Season
Willsburg has participated in contested double-figure field events at Cheltenham, Ascot, and Newbury since winning a Warwick bumper by nine lengths. However, he benefited from less competitive opposition to win under Gavin Sheehan.
The trainer commented that they thought Willsburg was a nice horse and despite encountering bad luck in running, he stayed on up the hill at Cheltenham. At Ascot, in his first time over hurdles, he showed a bit of greenness and weakness, but the trainer felt that it had been a very quiet season.
They were pleased to finally get a winner in 2024 and hoped to continue their success in the second half of the season. The victory was particularly satisfying for the yard and owners who’ve been providing support.
