A Visit to Richard Hannon Leaves Willie Carson Blushing and Trainer Confident of Classic Glory

Hannon and his father, Richard Hannon snr, were interviewed by the Racing Post for an upcoming feature in Sunday’s newspaper. The interview focused on the family’s impressive record of four wins in the 2,000 Guineas, dating back to Mon Fils in 1973. They also discussed the prospects of another notable victory with Rosallion in two weeks. According to Hannon, the visit wasn’t without its flaws, as he introduced his father to a couple of apprentices who were unaware of his prestige.

He expressed the opinion that the British Horseracing Authority should provide more education to apprentices in order to prevent such oversights. Hannon praised Rosallion, describing the horse as a pleasure to behold and easy to handle. He highlighted Rosallion’s extensive training with Haatem and Shouldvebeenaring, including a standout performance at Kempton. Hannon revealed that renowned trainer Willie viewed a video of Rosallion’s recent work at Kempton and believed it was strong enough to win most Guineas.

He expressed confidence in Rosallion’s potential, citing the horse’s exceptional speed and temperament. Despite acknowledging the formidable competition from Aidan O’Brien, Hannon remained optimistic that they have the best horse this year.
