Bretney strives to excel in the Highland National at Racing Post with the motto “The further he goes, the better he goes”.

The nine-year-old put up a strong performance on his first start over 3m6½f and scored at 11-1, making up for a disappointing run last week when he was pulled up at Cheltenham. Trainer Daly expressed his frustration about Bretney’s previous run, stating that it was a “shocker” and the horse “never went a yard.” However, the horse jumped well and performed excellently at Sandown, leading to a good day for the team.

Daly noted the horse’s improvement and suitability for National-type races. Middleham Park Racing’s first runner with Ireland’s champion trainer won at Tramore on New Year’s Day at odds of 1-5 and secured a second success without coming off the bridle, winning by a length from Tommys Law at 11-1. The subscription payment plan includes the first three payments at £24.98 and renews at the full monthly price thereafter.
