Harry Cobden Clinches Jump Jockeys’ Championship Title with Chepstow Opening-Race Victory

Cobden’s victory at Sandown on Saturday secured his position as the champion jockey, with his 163rd win of the season. He expressed his delight in an interview with Sky Sport Racing, comparing the feeling to that of a special event like a birthday.

Despite his success, he admitted that the achievement had not entirely sunk in. Reflecting on his win, Cobden praised the winning mare for her toughness and suitability for the race.

He credited the trainer for providing perfect instructions, emphasizing the mare’s ability to jump fences and expressing optimism about her future potential. Cobden’s remarkable season has also seen him exceed £3 million in prize-money for the first time, marking a career-best winning tally.
