It’s a dream come true” – 18-year-old set to follow Khadijah Mellah’s footsteps in the Magnolia Cup.
A young woman from Gloucester, aged 18, was among the first students to join an academy established following the victory of Khadijah Mellah in a race five years ago. The purpose of the academy is to assist young individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds in entering the racing industry. Having completed the Foundation Course at the British Racing School, she now works for Kim Bailey. She has expressed her excitement for the upcoming Magnolia Cup, a charity race for women on August 1, stating that participating in the event is the fulfillment of a childhood dream.
Mellah, the first British Muslim woman to win a horserace in Britain during her triumph at the Magnolia Cup in 2019, emphasized the academy’s ambition to support young people from diverse ethnic communities and urban equestrian centers. She expressed her emotional sentiments upon seeing one of their students taking part in the race that changed her own life and initiated the academy’s journey. Goodwood has committed to offering a place in the Magnolia Cup to a Riding A Dream Academy student annually. Since its inception, the Magnolia Cup has raised £2.4 million for charitable causes.
