Redcar and Beverley Racecourses Schedule Inspections Ahead of Upcoming Meetings

The meeting appeared to be going smoothly until a late assessment was conducted at 7.45 am following a heavy rainfall of 6mm between 5 am and 7 am, which resulted in the course becoming waterlogged. As a result, the track announced that the day’s race meeting had been abandoned due to the substantial rainfall. Initially, the ground had been described as soft with heavy patches overnight, and an additional 3mm of rain was expected throughout the day. Even though the racecourse officials had deemed the ground as heavy but raceable on Monday morning, they decided to conduct an inspection due to the potential for more rain.

The track mentioned that although the current condition was raceable (heavy), the further rainfall warranted a reassessment of prospects at 3 pm for the Wednesday racing, given the overnight 1mm rainfall and the changeable forecast with showers. Beverley’s first fixture of the season was scheduled to host seven races. However, Clerk of the course Paddy Graffin stated on Sunday that while there had been some drying in recent days and slight improvements in conditions, they would not be sufficient for Wednesday’s fixture.
