Sir Gino storms home to secure vital Grade 1 victory for Nicky Henderson

The Seven Barrows team had no winners at the Cheltenham Festival last month, raising concerns about the horses’ health. Sir Gino was scheduled to run in the Triumph Hurdle but was declared a late non-runner. Trainer Nicky Henderson expressed gratitude to the team and optimism for the future, despite the recent challenges.

He praised the resilience of the staff and the horse’s potential for a bright future. Sir Gino, owned by Marie and Joe Donnelly, won for the third time since joining Henderson’s yard. His jockey, de Boinville, was pleased with the victory and suggested that Sir Gino has a promising future as a chaser.

Kalif Du Berlais, a 9-2 shot for Paul Nicholls, finished in second place, 14 lengths behind the winner. Intellotto and Dirty Den claimed the fourth and fifth spots in the race.
